Afro-futurism is coming to Nairobi — and apparently, the future has an excellent wardrobe.

If African fashion’s future is going to be written in threads, 5 December looks like a very good place to start reading.

On 5th December 2026, the IR High Fashion Runway Showcase returns for its 5th Edition, bringing designers, models, fashion lovers, influencers, media and industry tastemakers together at the Pan Pacific Suites Garden Area in Westlands, Nairobi.

Running from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, this year’s showcase takes on the theme “Afro-Futurism: Threads of Tomorrow” — an invitation to imagine where African fashion is going next while celebrating the creativity, identity and craftsmanship already shaping the continent’s style today.

Where African Heritage Meets the Future

The runway becomes more than a place to display clothes. It becomes a canvas for designers to tell stories about identity, culture and possibility.

And Nairobi is an especially fitting stage.

The city continues to develop into one of East Africa’s most exciting fashion and creative hubs, with emerging designers increasingly combining local inspiration with global fashion sensibilities.

a Runway Show?

Presented by I and R Models KE Ltd, the showcase is designed as a meeting point between fashion and opportunity.

Alongside the runway, the event brings together fashion designers, clothing brands, models, influencers, press, buyers and fashion enthusiasts — creating the kind of room where a great collection can become a conversation, a collaboration or even a business opportunity.

For emerging African designers, spaces like these matter. Visibility matters. Being photographed matters. Meeting the right person over a glass of something equally fashionable can matter too.

And for audiences, it is an opportunity to discover the people who could be defining the next chapter of Kenyan and African fashion.
